(Case Study)
Project: Ana Busca Trabajo (Short Graphic Novel)
Client: New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE)
Industry : Non-Profit
Role: Graphic Designer
WHAT THE CLIENT NEEDED:
The New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) sought a graphic designer to create a graphic novel to raise awareness about employment agency fraud in Queens, NY. This community based campaign, sponsored by the Queens Museum, was to be developed in collaboration with NICE members who had themselves been victims of employment agency fraud.
WHAT I DELIVERED:
I conducted focus groups research and brainstorming with members and organizers of NICE and co-wrote a storyline based on personal stories from members. I developed concepts, sketches and storyboards and conducted and coordinated photoshoots with participant members. The result of this engagement was a graphic novel of 67 frames laid out on 4 spreads, that was published in November 2014 and used nation-wide by leading community based organizations that are actively addressing employment agency fraud.
IMPACT:
More than 4,000 copies of Ana Busca Trabajo were distributed across New York through 15 different distribution sites across the 5 boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester County.
PRESS:
Digital Drawing and Tracing using Illustrator
Digital Editing using Photoshop
